Inter alia, you will see that:
1. Currently, owner-members of the estate own 93% of the properties in the estate;
2. A Special General Meeting was held at which 68% of those present voted that penalty levies not be instituted;
3. Despite that, the developer (owning 7% of the estate) is dictating everything in terms of a hugely unfair constitution in terms of which he is able to do exactly as he pleases for ever - Yes, literally for ever.
4. The developer, hiding behind a constitution he had drawn up to suit only himself refused to allow a 68% vote to not implement the penalty levies.
5. The result is that from February 2009 owners who have not yet started building are being billed double levies - AND 12 months later these penalties will be increased to TRIPLE.
We are planning very specific steps to avoid this, and hopefully to get owners who have started paying double levies their money back.
Many owners are incensed and we are not going to take this lying down.
We need to get hold of as many contact details (email addresses preferably) of owners so that we can inform them directly. The current trustee committee is not very helpful in informing members of our representations. Please send any email addresses you may know of to ivan@matchmakers.za.com
We have 40 such addresses already. (Update as at 29 April: We now have 85 email addresses. Does that tell you something?)
Thank you,
Ivan van der Merwe
